Tour Plan

1: Arrival at Entebbe

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, Verdoro safari driver/guide will meet and greet you and then transfer you to your accommodation in Entebbe in order for you to relax after the long journey. Enjoy the cool breeze of the lake as you relax at your hotel.

2 Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

A verdoro safari driver/guide will pick you up from the hotel very early in the morning then begin a drive to Murchison Falls Uganda’s largest and oldest national park. Four of the Big Five can be spotted here—lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard and many other animals. Enjoy a stopover at Nakasongola then transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, an asylum for the rhinos. Enjoy a glimpse of the white rhinos alongside some birding around the vicinity. Later continue on the road to Murchison Falls National Park. Later head to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

3 Game drive and boat trip

On this day, you will enjoy breakfast in the wilderness. Head out for an early morning game drive at 6:00 am. You will spot animals like lions, elephants, buffalos and leopards among others. Later, enjoy an afternoon boat cruise on the placid Victoria Nile to the bottom of the magnificent Murchison Falls where the Nile plunges through a narrow crevice. You will be able to see the Nile crocodile, a bloat of hippos and a variety of bird species. Later in the evening, have a game drive in the Northern sector of the park. On a good day, you will see animals like buffaloes, antelopes, lions, elephants and many more. Bird species may include the black chest snake eagle, blue-napped mousebird, the secretary bird and many more. You will enjoy a campfire at the lodge after dinner among others and different bird species. Head back to the lodge for lunch.

3 Top of the Falls Visit and Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park and Bigodi Swamp Walk

Early in the morning after breakfast, head to the top of the falls. Then continue driving through the undulating highlands of Southwestern Uganda on our way to the greener and more beautiful Fort Portal area. Have lunch in Fort Portal. Reach the park and go for a nature walk in Bigodi Swamp. Head to the lodge and relax and later have dinner and your overnight stay.

4 Chimpanzee trekking

Our day starts with an early breakfast before meeting our tour guide for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking in the Kibale forest. We’ll then head off on foot to track the chimpanzees of Kibale National Park, home of an impressive 500 chimpanzees. The dense jungles are considered the best place to view chimpanzees in Africa. The chimpanzees are commonly found feeding on fig tree fruits in the game park. The guided walk offers a great opportunity to learn more about chimpanzees and other primates along with the various creatures of the jungle. Kibale National Park covers 795sq km mostly equatorial rainforest terrain. This national park is home to numerous forest wildlife species, boasting one of the highest concentrations of primates in the world. The 13 primate species include black and white Colobus monkeys, etc. Head back to the lodge for relaxation and later on enjoy a campfire.

6 Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Today, you will wake up ready for breakfast and check out of your lodge. You will then embark on a journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will arrive ready for lunch and later in the evening, pay a visit to the salt lakes of Katwe and tour the local community. You will head to the lodge, have dinner and your overnight stay.

7 Game drive and boat cruise

At 6:00 am, wake up for an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park exploring the area along Kasenyi and Queens’s Mile. Wildlife sightings include elephants, lions, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs and various bird species. Afterwards, head back to the lodge for breakfast. In the afternoon, you will embark on a two-hour boat trip on the Kazinga Channel, getting up close to hippos, buffalos and other wildlife. The boat trip offers excellent bird-watching opportunities as well as the chance to see elephants, warthogs and kobs. The banks of the channel are home to a rich variety of wildlife. This ride will leave you with an amazing experience on the water. When back on the shores, you can still have an evening game drive which is optional, then ride back to the lodge for dinner and your night stay.

8 Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This morning, you will check out of the lodge and set out for a game drive in the Ishasha area. Brace yourself for a chance to see the rare tree-climbing lions. The climbing lions can be seen lounging on the fig trees in the mid-morning as they rest from the previous night’s strenuous hunt! Afterwards, proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in preparation for your next day’s gorilla trek.

9 Gorilla trekking

After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for briefing with your packed lunch and later go for gorilla trekking. This could take 4-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. After trekking, meet your driver and transfer back to the hotel where you will unwind as you reflect on the memorable gorilla trek. You will enjoy a campfire at the lodge.

10 Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, you will depart for Lake Bunyonyi, which is one of the deepest lakes in Africa. Lake Bunyonyi has almost 32 islands and is a good stopover for relaxation from trekking mountain gorillas. Upon arrival, you will go on a boat ride, which will enable you to visit most of the islands on the lake. Each island is named according to the bird species found on the island and some were named because of their purposes for example Punishment Island, which is the smallest and was used by the Bakiga people to drop their girls who got pregnant before marriage. You will also learn a lot more about the islands and the people that inhabit them. After the boat ride, return back to the lodge for relaxation while you watch the beautiful sunset.

11 Transfer Back to Entebbe

After breakfast, you will enjoy a scenic drive from Lake Bunyonyi to Entebbe. Transfer back to Entebbe and make an en-route stopover at the Equator. Buy some souvenirs and take pictures for remembrance. Later, continue with your journey back to Entebbe.

12 Transfer to Jinja and Explore the Source of the Nile

Transfer to Jinja, the first industrial town of Uganda. You will visit the source of the Nile. You will stop over at Ssezibwa Falls and take some photos. At the source of the Nile, enjoy an evening sunset boat ride and also get a chance to see the mighty River Nile (the longest river in Africa) starting its journey all the way to the Mediterranean. Later, head back to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

13 Whitewater Rafting or Tubing on the Nile

You will after breakfast, enjoy white water rafting on the Nile and a speed boat ride or tubing on the Nile. Enjoy more adrenaline drifting on the Nile right at its source. After these activities, you will embark on your journey back to Entebbe. Head back to the hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.

14 Mabamba Shoebill Excursion and Transfer to Entebbe International Airport

Transfer to Mabamba Swamp on the shores of Lake Victoria. At Mabamba Swamp, you will set out on the water in a local canoe guided by an expert birder. You will explore the swamp in search of the infamous shoebill stork, the grey crowned crane – Uganda’s national bird, saddle-billed stork, African fish eagle and Malachite kingfisher.
